(VIP)

TRTC is fortunate to partner with MADD victims and survivors who are willing to share their stories with the meaningful purpose of giving drunk and drugged driving offenders a better understanding of the real life consequences and ripple effects of drunk and drugged driving, all in a passionate effort to help save more lives and prevent injuries

The online Victim Impact Panel Program consists of multiple stories shown through videos. All of the participants are real people telling their real stories. No one was paid and none of the presenters are actors. We ask that you show respect to their sharing of these personal stories by paying attention and listening to what they have to say.

These volunteers participate in this program in the hopes that their story will save lives and bring purpose to the 100% preventable tragic losses they have experienced.

FAILURE TO ATTEND OR ARRIVE ON TIME WILL RESULT IN A VIOLATION OF YOUR CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE OR PROBATION, WHICH WILL BE FILED ASAP AND A WARRANT WILL LIKELY BE ISSUED FOR YOUR ARREST

ARRIVE BY 6:00PM TO ENSURE YOU CAN BE SIGNED IN AND SEATED BY 6:30PM START TIME. NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED AFTER 6:30PM

Please be prepared to take a breath test.  You will not be admitted if alcohol is detected. You will receive a certificate of completion as you exit.

NOTE THAT IF YOU DO NOT SIGN UP IN A TIMELY FASHION, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED BY YOUR ATTORNEY OR LAW ENFORCEMENT.  IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND AND OBTAIN A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION, A WARRANT WILL BE ISSUED FOR YOUR ARREST.

As part of your sentence, you are hereby ordered by the Court to attend the DWI Victim Impact Panel . The Victim Impact Panel is a onetime two-hour presentation, whereby victims of Driving While Intoxicated Offenses and/or their family members will share with you their experiences resulting from another driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  You are required to register within five business days of your sentence.  

DRINKING OR ILLICIT DRUG USE PRIOR TO

ATTENDANCE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

If use of either is suspected, you will not be allowed to attend and the courts will be notified.

THE COURT HAS MANDATED THE RESOURCE TRAINING CENTER VICTIM IMPACT

PANEL FOR MOTORISTS CONVICTED OF DRUGGED-DRIVING OFFENSES.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

• Arrive promptly at the time indicated.  The program is 1-2 hours long.  If you arrive late, you will not be admitted.  Attendance for the entire session is required.

• A breathalyzer test may be administered at the discretion of the V.I.P. coordinator.  You will not be allowed to attend if you are under the influence.

• Participants who do not speak English must bring an interpreter (other than Spanish).  You must fill out an interpreter form before attending.

• HATS OFF. NO TEXTING AND CELL PHONES OFF.  Non compliance will result in expulsion.

• A picture I.D. is required for those motorists who are mandated to attend V.I.P.

• The price for VIP is $100.00 cash or Money Order only ($120 if signing up the day of the Staten Island panel).  

• There are no refunds given for V.I.P.

• If you don’t cancel within 48 hours you must pay and re- register

Don't forget, you MUST register in advance and print and bring your receipt the night of the event. The night of the Victim Impact Panel , you must arrive by 6:00pm and the event will start at 6:30pm SHARP. No one will be admitted after 6:30pm. You will be breathalyzed the night of the presentation, as having someone intoxicated in the audience may be very upsetting to the victims. There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for alcohol use. If you fail the breathalyzer, you will be denied entry.

VIP Fee is non-refundable. If you miss your date, there is a $25.00 Rescheduling Fee

The Resource Training Center's Impaired Driver Program (IDP) has expanded to Staten Island. To register, go to any DMV, mention you'll need to register for IDP. Give them our program code, 8500, and specify Staten Island. They will provide the available class days and times from which you will choose. It can take up to 20 business days for your information to get from the court into the DMV system, so it's best to wait 20 business days after your conviction before attempting to register. If DMV says you does not qualify, or have any questions, please call our IDP contact, Laura Abrahamsen at 718-871-7433. Our IDP Classes are held at all of our locations.
